HURRICANE LAURA DISASTER RELIEF 

NEEDS & OPPORTUNITIES

New Zion will collect items for the next two weeks to help with disaster relief efforts due to Hurricane Laura. The deadline to donate is September 11th. Supplies can be dropped off to the church office.

NEEDS:  Gatorade, water, mops, buckets, heavy duty trash bags, work gloves, bleach and various cleaning supplies.

Volunteers are also needed to help with the clean up efforts.


Northshore Volunteer Opportunities Update

In the aftermath of Hurricane Laura's landfall in  Southwest Louisiana, preparations are nearly completed for Northshore Disaster Relief teams going out with the first assignments. 

 Northshore Feeding Unit. Capable of serving up 10,000-12,000 meals/day, teams will be needed weekly to staff and maintain this ministry. Led by Bruce Efferson, this team currently has 10-11  volunteers for the first week. They could use 2-3 more volunteers. They expect to be deployed sometime early next week.

 Northshore Chainsaw / Recovery Team. These teams will be needed for weeks to remove fallen trees from homes and help "blue tarp" damaged roofs. Led by Dave Dumas, this team has approximately two week's worth of volunteers ready to go. More volunteers will be needed in future weeks. They expect to be deployed soon as well.

To all of those interested in helping the Hurricane Laura victims, a work trip has been scheduled for Saturday-Monday, September 5th-7th. The plan is to meet in the church parking lot at 4:30 a.m. on Saturday, to leave at 5:00 a.m. We will work Saturday, after church on Sunday, and on Monday. We plan to arrive home late Monday. The majority of work consists of gutting homes. You will need to bring a hammer, crowbar and wheelbarrow, if possible. Also, you will stay the nights in church facilities, so bring cots or sleeping bags. For more information, please call Johnny Huffman, Jr., at 985-630-1895. We need to know by 9:00 a.m. Thursday morning if you plan to participate. If you cannot go and help at this time, you may make monetary donations to the church designated to "Disaster Relief."
